Garden Project Update #3

We are making terrific progress on our garden. Many things are growing, growing, growing.

One of the prettiest things I saw out at the garden last week was this beautiful lavender plant. The bees were working hard there.

In our own plot everything was looking good. Not to maximum yet as many things are just popping up. We started a little later and still have a lot of thinning to do. By next week we should have another plot and that will help. We can transplant and space as needed.

The Kale was going crazy. We ran into some cabbage moths taking up residence but just removed them and washed the kale really well.

The carrots were thriving. We had transplanted some but others we just left where they were. I suspect they will look interesting growing up so close together. Pictured above, when we pulled one out we were surprised how good it looked. Afterward, we simply returned it where it was and maybe next week we can harvest those.

Here are some of the other things up close from our garden...

Pine fungus on our box. Not really harmful to the plants but a disease that grows on pine. We thought it was kinda pretty though. It  is certainly colorful.

We have three squares of pumpkin started. That will be fun in the fall. Even though I will have moved by then. Such is Army life !

Pumpkin, and...

Spinach, Strawberries, Bush Beans, Nasturtium, Watermelon, Cucumbers, Zucchini, Green Pepper and some Basil in these squares. We will need support to grow on for the cucumbers and watermelons soon. Some are still small so difficult to identify.

Basil...I love Basil.

Strawberries

Sweet Pepper

Bush Beans

With time we will be harvesting more eats and seeing big changes in the plot. We will be building some things for our vine plants to grow on. Plus we have more tomatoes and peppers to go in our second plot. Not sure how much those will produce since we are starting pretty late but we will give it a good go and learn much in the process.
