Dragon Fly or Machine

Amazing detail in the Dragon flies face on this photo taken by my daughter.

Love the lighting in this photo. This dragon fly was basking in the sun on our deck last week. We had the chanced to observe him for a while. He was happy perching there and wasn't gonna move anytime soon, regardless of us being there.

The way he moved was very robotic. He seemed more like a space creature close up than an animal. Or perhaps like that of a machine.Even the sounds he made we more mechanical than anything.  I think he is a Great Blue Skimmer, even though not blue in the body, the color can vary and it was the eyes and wings that sold me on the idea that it was one. If you can clarify that for me feel free to comment.
