Planning a Summer Garden

This year much of our nature notebooks will reflect our garden plans and progress. Our notebooks are also a great way to learn what works and what doesn't as we continue to become better gardeners and nature lovers.

For 10 Days in April beginning April 15th you can follow my garden plans. I am by no means an expert gardener but I have a deep love for gardening. As I explore and plan my own summer garden I invite you to follow my plans and perhaps use them in your own gardens this summer. I will cover 10 topics as follow:
  1. Getting Inspired
  2. How to Start Box Gardening
  3. Prepare Your Soil
  4. Starting Seeds
  5. Choose Plants You Will Use and Enjoy!
  6. Planning Out Your Plant Placement
  7. Tomatoes, Peppers, and Cucumbers
  8. Favorite Flowers and Herbs
  9. Tools and Maintenance
  10. When to Begin Planting

* Some topics are subject to change depending on my experiences. I will be actually going through each step as I plan my own garden.

In addition, I want to offer suggestions and ideas for incorporating the experience into your homeschools and nature notebooks. Gardening is something I feel is so closely tied to nature that it's the perfect thing for a nature journal or notebook!
